A review of the film freedom writers
Mar 9, "Freedom Writers" is a story that should rightfully be told Erin's first few days at school are daunting: She witnesses a fight, sees a boy pull out a gun, and endures taunts from her students, who see themselves as their other teachers see them: the "ghetto-ass class" unworthy of attention or time.
Hillary Swank plays a great role in this film and now Im gonna go out and buy the book.

Keep up the good work! It's not a big thing but it is annoying. How is the Holocaust a helpful historical example for these "at-risk" students? While the one at the mark has a ring of authenticity, the one at the film's end feels like it's all Hollywood. This film is a superior entry in a long history of teaching brought to its ideal form in film. For someone like me who complains about hastily eaten popcorn? We overwhelmingly voted to watch a G-rated movie instead! So, she has them stand together in the classroom when they've shared an experience, like losing a friend to violence. The MTV imprimatur indicates the movie is being targeted at teenagers. As I saw the characters go through their horribly troubled lives and while I was reminded of little Anne Frank, I became somewhat guilty about silently complaining that I got the squeaky seat or that my friend ate all the popcorn five minutes into the movie. I was at first shocked at this story and couldn't believe it had happened. But Freedom Writers also argues for listening to teenagers. Her lofty goals are not shared by her department head, Margaret Campbell Imelda Staunton , her ex-activist father Scott Glenn , or her neglected husband, Scott Patrick Dempsey.
I hate white people on sight. Her lofty goals are not shared by her department head, Margaret Campbell Imelda Stauntonher ex-activist father Scott Glennor her neglected husband, Scott Patrick Dempsey.
This film is a superior entry in a long history of teaching brought to its ideal form in film. Live strong.
There's another emotional moment at the end, but it feels contrived. Her Eva is part of a high school ensemble but she stands out.
